Artist Statement

I like concrete for its ironic qualities of delicacy and strength.

I am a bricklayer and was a masonry contractor, specializing in architectural finishes of concrete and historical masonry.

I received an art education from Blackburn College, Illinois and Tuscarora Pottery School in Nevada.

My skills have led me to develop “Sedona Totems,”

which brings together my experience in concrete and pottery.

My style is heavily influenced be the Japanese philosophy of Wabi-Sabi.

They believe that there is beauty in the “flaws’ of natural material.

There may be blemishes in my work.

I do not strive for the coldness of technical perfection.
